Italian referee Maurizio Mariani has been named to officiate Wednesday's Champions League clash between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid at Anfield, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 CET.

Mariani, a FIFA-listed official since 2019, will be assisted by Matteo Marcenaro as fourth official, Daniele Bindoni and Alberto Tegoni as assistant referees and Aleandro Di Paolo as VAR assistant.

UEFA has also confirmed Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez for Bayern Munich's encounter with Chelsea on the same evening.

Carlos Del Cerro will oversee VAR duties, with Guillermo Cuadra as fourth official, Raul Cabanero and Inigo Prieto as assistants, and Dutch referee Rob Dieperink as VAR assistant.

The Champions League resumes this week with five Spanish clubs in action. Athletic Club will kick off proceedings on Tuesday, followed by Real Madrid and Villarreal, while Atletico play on Wednesday and Barcelona on Thursday.
