Manchester United could go for Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the January transfer window. The Red Devils are struggling and the lack of goals has been pointed at as one of the main causes.

According to 'Manchester Evening News', Timo Werner has been on United's agenda since last summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had already asked for his signing and the manager's situation could end up bringing about his move

Werner is Leipzig's star striker, but he wants to go a step further in his career. His opening games in the elite were fantastic and he has been scoring around 20 goals per season for the past three campaigns (21, 21 and 19). This term he is on course for similar figures after netting seven times in ten matches.

The Germany international renewed this summer until 2023 although there is an important thing to mention in his contract renewal. From 2020, his buyout clause will gradually drop from 60 million euros to 30.

The English outfit have not been able to overcome the departures of Alexis Sanchez and above all, Romelu Lukaku. Although the Chilean was not indispensable at Old Trafford, losing two attackers left them short upfront. United were just left with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial

The signing of young Daniel James was an unexpected reinforcement for the United strike force. The club are clear that they have to reinforce up top if they want to finally get a few victories on the spin.

United are in 12th place, with two wins, three draws and three losses. Up to now, the United fans have celebrated nine goals and seen their team concede eight.
