Man City to meet with referees over fouling

the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) will meet with Pep Guardiola next month regarding his worries about his players' protection.

Guardiola has always been outspoken on dangerous tackling on his star men.

After a challenge on Kevin De Bruyne at Selhurst Park and a foul in the FA Cup on Leroy Sané, from which the winger sustained ligament damage, Guardiola has been more enraged than ever.

Although City will be hoping for retrospective red cards and more serious sanctioning on the pitch to protect their players, it is unlikely PGMOL will make such changes.

"I don’t know what [opponents] are thinking – you can also pull a shirt, that’s more effective than a tackle," Guardiola said following his side's 3-0 victory against West Brom.

In addition to Guardiola's frustration, City players are concerned. After all, all it takes is one horror tackle to rule them out of the World Cup this Summer.
