Man City thrashing Aston Villa in just 45 minutes

The Sky Blues showed no mercy in the first half against Aston Villa. It took just 45 minutes for Manchester City to kill off any hopes of the Villains and move even closer to taking advantage of Arsenal's slip-up against Brentford after the Gunners dropped points with a draw against the Bees.

Pep Guardiola's side showed their determination just four minutes into the game when Mahrez's cross from the corner was headed in by Rodri at the near post, beating Emiliano Martinez to give the Cityzens the lead.

However, the worst of the first half for Aston Villa was yet to come. The Sky Blues decided to punish Aston Villa's mistakes and further extend the lead in the last 5 minutes of the first half. In the 40th minute, Gundogan scored the second for Man City. De Bruyne tried to find Haaland with space through a long pass and after Chambers' poor clearing the Norwegian received the ball inside the box. The former Dortmund player squared the ball to the far post where Gundogan pushed the ball into the net.

Just five minutes later and before the break the home side put the icing on the cake. Ramsey fouled Grealish inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Mahrez scored from 12 yards to add the third.
