Man City have 'most expensive squad in football'
Pep Guardiola has assembled the most expensive squad in football at City according to research group CIES Football Observatory.
The CIES data covers Europe's big five leagues, the top divisions in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
City spent a total of £215m on transfers this summer to take the total expenditure on their squad to €853m (£775m).
That is £3m more than the amount spent by French giants Paris Saint-Germain who splashed a world record £200m on Brazilian star Neymar in the summer.
Manchester United were top of the table last year but the value of their squad has only increased by £66m this summer, meaning they have spent €784m (£712m) in total, falling to third place.
Premier League teams occupy six of the top 10 positions, and boast the highest average squad worth of €287m (£261m).
