Luis Suarez was being questioned coming into the game. Simeone was blaming himself for the Uruguayan's poor contributions, but Suarez certainly made his mark versus Elche. He scored his first goal since getting over the coronavirus with a typical centre forward's goal against Elche.

Since getting over COVID-19, Luis Suarez had not performed well for Atletico Madrid. He was heavily criticised for his role in the derby and even Simeone had to come out to defend him

Luis Suarez opened the scoring at the Wanda against Elche in a game in which he needed to prove a point.

The Uruguayan moved away from his man inside the penalty box like a typical striker would do to receive an accurate low cross by Kieran Trippier.

He got his right foot to the ball and he passed the ball into the back of Edgar Badia's net.

After failing to get on the scoresheet against Valladolid, Salzburg and Real Madrid, he ended his goalscoring drought against Elche.
