Having fallen down the pecking order in Paris, Julian Draxler has emerged as a January transfer target for Liverpool, who have already contacted PSG to enquire about an ambitious loan move for the German.

The big-money signings of Neymar and Mbappe have seen Draxler struggle to cement his position in the starting lineup and has been continuously linked with a move away from the French capital despite only joining in January 2017.

The German is understood to be reluctant to give up on his PSG dream, but promise of regular first-team football could convince the 24-year-old to exit the Parc des Princes.

In that case, Jurgen Klopp could face an uphill battle to land the coveted playmaker, with fierce competition from several Premier League rivals, including long-term admirers of the midfielder Arsenal.

The Reds are yet to strengthen their back line after another display of their fragility against Sevilla, and Klopp appears determined to add more firepower to his attack. Is Draxler what Liverpool need?
