Armand Lauriente is en route to England to finalise a €20 million move to Sunderland, in what represents a major statement of intent from the newly promoted Premier League side.

The 26-year-old French forward is travelling alongside his representatives, Roberto Meloni and Johan Caurant, ahead of signing his new contract.

The Black Cats reached an agreement with Sassuolo on Monday, securing his services after weeks of negotiations. The deal is seen as a significant coup for Sunderland, who have been targeting top-tier attacking reinforcements.

Lauriente, known for his pace and creativity on the left wing, enjoyed a productive spell in Serie A and arrives with experience and flair that could add a new dimension to Sunderland's frontline.

Once formalities are completed, an official unveiling is expected later this week. The move marks one of Sunderland's biggest signings of the summer and could prove pivotal in their bid to stay in the Premier League.
