Jurgen Klopp insists that strong starts to the Premier League season by Manchester United and Manchester City have not placed any added pressure on Liverpool.

Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Anfield on Saturday, leaving them in eighth place, five points behind the Manchester clubs in the Premier League table, both of whom won in emphatic fashion over the weekend.

Klopp's attention now turns to the Caraboa Cup, where his Liverpool side face a third round clash with Leicester on Tuesday night.

It provides the Reds with a good chance to secure their first piece of silverware since 2012 and it is one Klopp is keen to get his hands on.

The German said: "I don't feel pressure, I feel opportunity. I feel the chance to do something really good. I see the opportunity to win a very, very interesting cup competition.

"I probably have pressure, yes, but it cannot be bigger than the pressure that I put on myself and I am used to that.

"I watch the games of United and City because it is interesting to see but it is not my job to count points in this moment and say 'okay, now they have this lead'. They are obviously in good shape at the moment.

"That is how it is but a season is sometimes like this. As long as you are really focused, as long as you are ready, as long as your attitude is 100 per cent, as long as you are greedy, you don't have to look at other teams.

"Only when you play against them then you have to look at them. All the rest you have no influence so ignore it."
