Young starlet Joe Willock wants to stay at Newcastle, where he was on loan at the end of last season. He has reportedly informed parent club Arsenal of his decision to want to continue under the direction of Steve Bruce.

Arsenal and Newcastle are being forced to see eye-to-eye due to young Englishman Joe Willock. It seems that both clubs are close to agreeing another loan move for the young forward, according to reports from 'The Telegraph'.

Willock spent the second half of last season on loan to the Magpies, scoring an impressive eight goals and forming a vital part of Steve Bruce's side in their successful battle avoiding relegation.

In this time, the player enjoyed the minutes that were unavailable to him under Arteta and he found himself happy under the direction of Steve Bruce. For this reason, the aforementioned media outlet states that the Englishman has informed the Arsenal directive his wish to stay on at Newcastle next campaign.

However, that same source explained that, when Mikel Arteta was asked about the Willock situation, he threw the baby out with the bathwater. He limited himself to speaking about the friendly match against Hibernian and revealed how the player had been training during his team's pre-season.

"This Wednesday he trained really well but we didn't want to risk him. Joe is part of our plans, he's our player and in the time that he is here we will try to make the most out of him," the Arsenal manager highlighted.

One of the reasons why the Gunners are looking to offload the young star is because he doesn't yet fit in to Arteta's system. This scenario would be a classic win-win for all parties, as the player will enjoy more game time and his progression will not stall, meaning Arsenal will recuperate a player with much more experience a year later.
