Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri have ignited a storm with their celebrations following their goals against Serbia.

Xhaka and Shaqiri, who are both of Kosovar descent, made allusions to the flag of Albania with their celebrations, leaving Serbs furious.

Kosovo is a de facto autonomous region in the Balkans which declared its independence from Serbia in 2008, although Serbia does not recognise this.

According to the 'BBC', FIFA will be able to investigate the 'double eagle' gesture made by the players as it can be classed as provocation.

Under article 54 of the disciplinary code, "anyone who provokes the general public during a match will be suspended for two matches and sanctioned with a minimum fine of 5,000 Swiss francs (£3,800)".

If FIFA finds them to be in the wrong, then they would miss the final group game against Costa Rica and the round of 16.
