Luis de la Fuente, in a preview of an interview with the programme ‘ElDesmarque’, acknowledged that he has Isco Alarcon in mind ahead of the squad list for the EURO. The Malaga native has not played for the Spanish national team since 2019 and is having an outstanding season with Real Betis.

Isco Alarcon is having one of the best seasons of his professional career. After a turbulent spell at Sevilla, he joined Manuel Pellegrini's Real Betis and has become a key figure. He has 19 MVP trophies in 28 La Liga appearances and fans have been calling for him to be called up for this summer's European Championship. Luis de la Fuente seems to have the player in mind.

"Isco is a player that I really like and who is having a great season. This Sunday, he played a spectacular game. The truth is that he can, he can be with us", said the coach.

This season, there have already been four calls for the Spanish national team, those of September 2023 -to play against Georgia and Cyprus-, October 2023 -against Scotland and Norway-, November 2023 -against Cyprus and Georgia- and March 2024 -against Colombia and Brazil-. The next one is scheduled for two weeks from now and could have a place for the player from Malaga, as there are several players who do not seem immovable - Pablo Sarabia, Fabian Ruiz, Alex Baena... -.

Isco has not played for Spain since 2019, a period in which his position as a regular starter for Real Madrid disappeared after a 17-18 season in which he had started 36 of 49 times.
