Juventus record-signing Gonzalo Higuain insisted that jibes over his weight will only spur him on to score more goals.

The Argentine responded to suggestions that he had come back from pre-season overweight by coming off the bench to score Juventus' winning goal in a 2-1 over Fiorentina on his debut.

Higuain told 'Tuttosport': "It is better if you keep saying I'm fat, I will continue to score goals.

"Come on, I'm fine, I have trained for 20 days and I honestly do not understand all this interest on my condition.

The 28-year-old then went on to describe his match-winning debut as a "dream".

"You always dream of nights like this, but they do not always come true," he added.

"This time everything went like a dream. The goal? From the outside it might look easy, but I guarantee you that it was very difficult".
