Ajax, with ten players, beat PSV and draw closer to the top of the Eredivisie table, which has become tight at the top after the home side's victory.

The fight for the Eredivisie title is going to be tight  after Ajax beat PSV 3-1, but the side from Eindhoven are still top of the table. That said, PSV cannot afford to slip up again. Only two points separate both teams. AZ Alkmaar, who are surprisingly in third and are 15 points off Ajax in second and Feyenoord in 4th, who are three points behind AZ, are too far off the pace. So it will be a battle between PSV and Ajax for the title

It was a match which had its share of controversy. The VAR had to intervene on two occasions to decide on key decisions. The first of them left Ajax with ten: Mazraoui kicked Angeliño in the face. It was the correct call. Then Ajax were winning 1-0 at that point after a mix-up between Schwaab and goalkeeper Zoet and PSV scored an own goal. 30 seconds after the red card, Luuk de Jong headed in to make it 1-1.

PSV picked up and penned in their own area. But in one of the few times they got out of their area, Neres went down in the PSV box, the VAR got involved, the penalty was given and Tadic made no mistake from the spot. The Johan Cruyff Arena erupted and PSV were finished off late in second half injury time when Neres scored with a shot across the goalkeeper.
