Harry Kane was one of the main men in the game between Tottenham and Manchester City. One goal from the English international puts him on the iconic figure of 200 Premier League goals, his favourite competition and the one which has constantly seen him grow throughout his illustrious career.
The English striker has now only got two players ahead of him in the standings of all-time goal-scorers in the competition since it first started more than 30 years ago. He will give chasing down Wayne Rooney a go in this campaign, who retired with 208 goals, but he is still a fair way behind Alan Shearer. The star English footballer hung up his boots after getting 260 goals in the top flight, and him, (31 years and 250 days) as well as Rooney (31 years and 301 days) were both older than Kane is now (29 and 192 days).
Making his Premier League debut on the 18th August 2012 with Tottenham, Harry Kane went out on loan and got some experience with Norwich City in 2012-13. It was not until the following season that, back with Spurs, he got his first goal. In the Tottenham-Sunderland game on the 7th April 2014, the striker got his marker up and running in the Premier League. It was one goal which certainly was not a one-off, as, showing off his great goal-scoring knack, managed to get two more on Matchday 34 ,against West Bromwich Albion and on the 35th against Fulham. In total in the 2013-14 season he played 10 and got three goals.
At 21 years of age, Kane went from being a promising young talent to an undisputed starter in Tottenham's side during the 2014-15 season. When that campaign came to an end, he had 34 games and 21 Premier League goals to his name, a figure which he gradually beat in the 2015-16 (38 games and 25 goals) and the 2016-17 seasons (30 games and 29 goals).
In the 2017-18 season, the attacker born in Walthamstow established himseld as a top goal-scorer with 30 in 37 games and, after that, he went through two slightly less prolific seasons, when Kane undoubtedly blamed his injuries. One year later, in 2018-19, the English international had 28 games and 17 goals to his name, which was similar to the following season when he claimed 18 goals in 29 matches.
The English forward has maintained his good rhythm in the last two seasons, although his stats have gone down compared to his best seasons. In 2020-21, Kane played 35 games and got 23 goals, and in 2021-22 he played 35, scoring 17. So far this season, he has already played 21 games and with this goal he has reached the 17 goal mark, which will have him hoping this will be one of his best seasons yet.
