After Vincent Kompany headed home the opener, Ilkay Gundogan wasted no time in doubling City's advantage.
Kompany fought off Chris Smalling to nod past David Gea and make it 1-0 at the Etihad.
Six minutes later, fans witnessed a flash of brilliance from their German midfielder. After a string of tidy passes, Gundogan spun his defender with a lovely piece of skill and finished coolly.
