Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola praised youngster Rico Lewis after the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, describing him as one of the best players he has ever coached in his managerial career.

Manchester City claimed their second consecutive win in the 2023/2024 Champions League after beating Leipzig 1-3 away from home

The Sky Blues took the lead thanks to a great combination of their home-grown stars. Ricco Lewis set up Foden for the English midfielder to break the deadlock at the Red Bull Arena. Aside from the opener's assist, Lewis was a complete headache for the German club's defence, something Pep Guardiola was keen to comment on in his post-match press conference.

"What a player - 18 years-old. I have been manager for 14-15 years, training unbelievable players. To find a player like him playing in the pockets, how he has to move in the holding midfield, moving the spaces, he is one of the best I ever trained by far," said the Spaniard.

"He is a humble guy, doesn’t talk much and he has the appreciation for all his mates. He didn’t play much this season, last season was a key point to understand what we should do. He helped us a lot to understand what we have to do in our build-up and many things. He didn’t play much but he is going to play a lot," concluded the former Barca boss.
