Real Madrid's season in general and Thibaut Courtois in particular had lots of room for improvement at the beginning. Everything changed after the match against Galatasaray, according to the goalkeeper himself.

Real Madrid were on the ropes going into the Champions League game with Galatasaray in the Champions League. Real Madrid needed to win after losing against PSG and drawing versus Brugge. That is where their season changed.

"Against Brugge we managed to get a point which was key to us qualifying. But against Galatasaray things changed for me. I suddenly had that feeling that no one was getting past me," Courtois told 'Proximus Sport'.

Courtois is aware that that was the turning point. "Afterwards, Roberto Martinez said to me: 'There I have seen the Courtois of the World Cup again'," the Real Madrid keeper confessed.

"I know the goalkeeper that I am and I never doubted myself. I know where I am and I'm only interested in constructive criticism," concluded a Courtois who has had great months at the Santiago Bernabeu

The win in Istanbul was a turning point for Real Madrid. After that match, Real went 21 games unbeaten and they went top of La Liga, a spot they lost last weekend following the 1-0 defeat to Levante.
