FIFA have confirmed that they will open a disciplinary file against Argentina and The Netherlands after the quarter-final. The maximum footballing body accused both teams' of "unsportsmanlike conduct", not only for the players, but also the managerial teams.

FIFA's Disciplinary Commission "have opened proceedings" agaisnt The Argentinian Association (AFA) and The Dutch Football Federation "for possible infractions" of Article 12 of the Disciplinary Code, which refers to "unsportsmanlike conduct of players and officials", during the tense World Cup quarter-final, which took place on Friday in the Lusail Stadium with the Argentines running out winners after a penalty shoot-out.

What is more, the AFA also risk breaking the "Article 16 (order and security of games)", according to FIFA in an announcement published this Saturday on their official website.

During the match, there were confrontations between both sets of players, as well as several protests aimed towards the game's referee, Antonio Mateu Lahoz, which were joined with both sides' players complaining about the refereeing after the game.
