There were disappointing scenes ahead of the Seville derby between Sevilla and Betis. Sevilla welcomed their team to the Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium with flares and without social distancing. Betis supporters did the same when they said goodbye to their players at their home ground before making the short trip to the Pizjuan.

Some people seemed not to be concerned about the current pandemic ahead of the Seville derby between Sevilla and Betis.

Despite both clubs warning their fans not to gather, Sevilla supporters gathered around the Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium to welcome their players. The images were quickly criticised on social media.

The Sevilla fans, on the kerb and surrounded by police, were not maintaining social distancing and shouting and cheering their team on.

Some flares were also set off which forced the police to act and evacuate some parts of the road near the Sanchez-Pizjuan.

'ABC' reports that, despite everything, everything went as normal from 18:00 CET onwards and under severe security measures.

Minutes before that, there were similar images at the Benito Villamarin. Betis fans said goodbye to their players at their home ground. They were holding large placards and not respecting social distancing.

It brings back memories of what happened last week prior to the Madrid derby when some Atletico Madrid supporters also gathered without social distancing.
