Visibly overweight and with the shirt a lot tighter than usual, Willian's physical appearance at the start of pre-season has caused some irritation amongst Arsenal fans. In the defeat during their first friendly match, the Brazilian was heavily criticised.
Arsenal's first pre-season test didn't quite exactly go to plan. The Gunners couldn't handle Scottish side Hibernian and ended up losing the match 2-1.
But the image that was perhaps most surprising from their debut match was that of Willian. The Brazilian's physical shape left a lot to be desired. Visibly overweight, the Arsenal shirt appeared to a be a fair bit tighter than usual, meaning the outline of his belly could blatanly be seen.
All of which formed part of an image that was met by some irritation among Gunners' fans, as well as the mockery of his rivals. Without a doubt, Mikel Arteta has a lot of work to do to get the player back to full fitness in time for the start of the Premier League season.
