Regarded as one of the sport's greatest ever racers, F1 legend Ayrton Senna has been honoured by Brazilian football team Corinthians, as they released a new black and gold strip in tribute to the late icon this week.

Having won three Formula 1 World Titles, the first of which was in 1988, thirty years ago, and later triumphing twice more in 1990 and 1991, Ayrton Senna is considered to have been one of the true legends of racing. And now, upon the thirty year anniversary of Senna's first title win, Brazilian football club Corinthians have released a special black and gold kit in tribute to the late racer's illustrious career.

Senna may have died in 1994, but he remains one of Brazil's most beloved sporting figures, and as such, Campeonato Brasileiro side Corinthians have seen it appropriate to design their third kit in celebration of Senna's life and career. The design features a black shirt with 41 horizontal gold lines in two blocks across the front, one on the chest and one lower down the torso, each line representative of one of the 41 grand prix wins Senna accomplished.  Between the two blocks of lines, Senna's signature replaces the sponsors logo, and  is printed in gold.

The colour of the kit is in contrast to the usual black and white combination sported by Corinthians, but represents the colours of the uniforms donned by Senna's Lotus team during the early stages of his career. While inside the collar, the phrase "Senna Sempre" is printed in gold (or "Senna always" in Portuguese).

The kit will be worn in Corinthians' next League fixture against Flamengo on Saturday, as they look to improve their current position of ninth in the Brazilian top tier.
