United were the better team, but it looked like it would go to penalties until Edinson Cavani put United ahead in the 88th minute with a shot across Olsen and then Martial added a second with the last kick of the game on the counter. Everton played well and were unlucky not to be playing against 10 men when Cavani grabbed Mina around the neck in the 52nd minute, but avoided punishment due to a lack of VAR.
