Evans and Barry start for West Brom despite controversy

Jonny Evans and Gareth Barry, two of four West Brom players interviewed by police in Barcelona, will start the FA Cup tie against Southampton on Saturday.

It was a story which would have been difficult to make up. On Friday, it emerged that four West Brom players had allegedly stolen a taxi and driven to a McDonalds drive-thru before abandoning it outside their hotel during a three-day training camp in Barcelona.

Those involved (Jonny Evans, Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill) have since apologised for their actions as an investigation remains open. However, the incident hasn't stopped head coach Alan Pardew from including two of them in his starting XI.

The 'Baggies' take on fellow Premier League team Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday, and given the importance of the fixture, Pardew has left nothing to chance by including key players Evans and Barry in his line-up.
