Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was the subject of quite a controversy after being photographed with Tommy Robinson, the far-right extremist. However, the footballer said he did not know him and was asked for a photograph.

Far-right activist Tommy Robinson is one of the most talked about people in recent years because of his extreme right-wing campaigns against Islam, which is why seeing Ederson by his side caused a stir across the UK.

In fact, the man who published the photograph of both of them was Danny Tommo, a colleague of Tommy Robinson. He did so by means of a tweet in which he assured that the goalkeeper supports the far-right politician: "Tommy Robinson met with City's golden boy, Ederson, last night and gave him all his support while he was in Manchester.

The image created great controversy and the goalkeeper received thousands of mentions on social networks accusing him of supporting Robinson, but according to him, Danny Tommo lied by using that photograph.

"People have made me aware of who this guy is. I definitely not support this guy or his ideas. He just stopped me for a picture. I had no idea who he was" (do not be a liar)," was Ederson's response.

However, Danny Tommo retaliated with a final tweet in which he explained that Tommy Robinson has been "fighting for the working class" for the last ten years and, continued to tell Ederson that he has "nothing to apologise for".
