Denis Suarez 'rejected Chelsea to remain at Barca'
According to Spanish journalist Helena Condis, Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez rejected a move to Chelsea this summer in order to remain with the Spanish champions.
Whilst he hasn't received the game time he would have liked since returning to the club from Villarreal, Suarez's main desire couldn't be more clear: he wants to succeed with Barcelona.
According to Condis, journalist for Spanish radio station 'COPE', the Spanish midfielder was very much wanted by the London giants during the latter stages of the English transfer window, only for the 'Blues' to be met by an unexpected response.
"Denis Suarez rejected and offer from Sarri's Chelsea," Condis claimed, before revealing that the Italian had also tried to sign Suarez during his time in charge at Napoli.
Condis continued, explaining Suarez's decision by saying: "The player want to stay. He is only thinking of succeeding with Barca."
The former Manchester City youngster will now have his sights set on securing more regular game time, having seen his involvement fall from 1786 minutes (36 appearances) during his first season back at the Camp Nou, to 1134 minutes (27 appearances) during his second.
