It has been a while since Cristiano Ronaldo, in a gesture of outrage over a poor performance for Manchester United, took a 14-year-old boy's mobile phone and smashed it to the ground after a match. The FA, the English Football Association, charged him and he has until 10th October to respond to the charges.
After Manchester United's defeat to Everton in the second half of last season, Cristiano Ronaldo was so angry that he grabbed a 14-year-old boy's mobile phone and threw it to the ground. He apologised afterwards, but that did not stop both the police and the FA from cautioning him.
The FA, in fact, charged him with a breach of rule E3 of its code, which involves not carrying out inappropriate comments or acts. In this case, breaking a child's mobile phone is clearly inappropriate, and the Portuguese has until 10th October to respond to these charges.
The date came to light thanks to the British press. Specifically, it appears in media such as 'The Sun'. The footballer has to appear to explain what happened and, probably, to ask to be exonerated. In any case, if he has to pay a fine or face a ban, it is not expected to be very serious.
Curiously, 10th October is the day after Manchester United face Everton, the opponent against whom Cristiano committed that action. First, the Red Devils must face Manchester City in the Premier League and Omonia Nicosia in the Champions League, matches in which the Portuguese will try to gain prominence.
