Kevin De Bruyne's agent is expected to demand a lucrative new contract for his client after confirming that talks with the club over a new deal will get underway shortly.

Pep Guardiola hailed De Bruyne as 'the best player in Europe bar one' after his scintillating performance against Stoke City at the weekend and the player's agent is thought to be keen to take advantage of the current hype surrounding the Belgian.

The 26-year-old is thought to earn in the region of £115,000 at present but is expecting a significant rise if he is to agree to a new deal.

De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Koster told 'Italian Radio Crc': 'In the coming months, I’ll meet with City to figure out how to improve and extend his contract.

'His salary? I cannot say. But if you think what Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being paid, you can picture.'

English publication 'The Daily Mail' estimates Neymar's salary to be around £600,000 per week, with Mbappe a relative pauper on just £320,000 per week.

The same source claims that City have been looking to open talks with De Bruyne over a new deal since last month, with the player originally looking to double his £6m per year deal, though given his recent performances, his agent is in a strong position to demand even more.

City are in no rush to do a deal though, with the Belgian international still having four years remaining on his current deal.
