Brazilian centre-back David Luiz will continue to play for Flamengo for another year. The former Chelsea and PSG defender signed his renewal and his club confirmed the Brazil international's continuity until 2023.
Flamengo, who were champions of the last Copa Libertadores, announced on Friday the renewal of the contract of Brazilian central defender David Luiz until 31th December 2023.
"Quality, leadership and willingness to lift titles. In 2022 it was the Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil - let's go for more together, David!," the club wrote on their social media.
The former Chelsea player joined Brazil's most popular club in September 2021, after 14 years of success in Europe, where he won a score of titles.
David Luiz has emerged as one of the key players in the team for his great performances on the pitch and for being an influence for the younger players in the squad.
