Cristiano Ronaldo is not going through a good moment in his career after missing pre-season. Erik ten Hag has been clear and serious in his decisions and Wayne Rooney gave his opinion on the Portuguese's situation.
"The coach took a different path because of how he's playing and he's been successful. He and Messi are two of the best players, but in the end time catches up with us all," said a Wayne Rooney who knows all too well what it is like to have to say goodbye to football.
The current coach was clear and insisted that "Cristiano is not the player he was when he was 22 or 23", so it will be "complicated for him" to be on the bench.
But Rooney did not rule him out for good and ended by saying that we have to "be patient" because "his opportunity will come again".
