City to swoop in on Mbappe if PSG are sanctioned

According to reports in 'The Mirror', Manchester City will launch an audacious bid to sign forward Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain if the French club are issued a strong penalty by UEFA.

The future of PSG appears a little murky at the moment. The 'Financial Times' issued a report earlier in the week claiming that the Ligue 1 leaders could be penalised by UEFA for falsifying the value of sponsorship deals to cover their outgoings for the transfers of Neymar and Mbappe.

If true, PSG could be given a ban from the Champions League which would seriously affect their incomings especially with the high salaries they pay their stars.

The club deny all information presented in the aforementioned report. However, if it were to happen and PSG were to start struggling financially, City would allegedly be prepared to make a move for their second-highest paid player: 19-year-old Mbappe.

Speculation in 'The Mirros' suggests that Pep Guardiola is keeping an eye on the situation in France and will start negotiations with both parties if things begin to turn sour.

At least for the moment though, both clubs have their respective leagues to wrap up. City need rivals Manchester United to lose to West Brom on Sunday to claim the Premier League title whilst PSG are currently 14 points ahead of second-placed Monaco with just six games remaining.
