According to reports in Spain, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is eyeing a move for Riyad Mahrez in the January transfer window.

The Leicester winger failed to secure a move away from the King Power Stadium in the summer, with Roma reportedly close to securing his signature, and there is continuous speculation about a possible exit in January.

Spanish publication 'Don Balon' claim that high-flying Manchester City are keen on bringing in Mahrez, as they look to provide depth to an already strong squad.

Although City are far from struggling in the attacking department with Aguero, Jesus, Sane and Sterling all starting the season in fine form, Guardiola wants to find a replacement for Spanish winger Jesus Navas, who left for Sevilla in the summer.

The Spanish coach was seen having a brief chat with Mahrez after his side's 2-0 win over Leicester on Saturday.

In the summer following Leicester's shock title-winning campaign, Mahrez's sparkling form attracted interest from Barcelona, but a move to Catalonia never materialised.

The 26-year-old has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea but he insisted he was "settled" at his current club, despite pushing for a move during the transfer window.

The Algerian winger said: "I am settled, I've always been settled. Of course I wanted a new challenge, but it didn't happen and that's okay.

"I wasn't disappointed for myself because I love this club and I have been through everything with this club.

"We won the League, we were in the Champions League and we got safety in the last two games in our first year in the Premier League.

"I went from the Championship to the Premier League and Champions League with this club – everything with this club! I am very confident here and I feel good."
