Girona confirmed on Thursday that Bryan Gil will miss the remainder of the season. The attacker underwent surgery to deal with an injury to the external lateral ligament of his right knee. He will spend between four and five months recovering.

Girona winger Bryan Gil underwent surgery on Thursday morning on the external lateral ligament in his right knee and will be out for between four and five months, the Catalan club confirmed.

The worst-case scenario for the Tottenham loanee, who was ruled out of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Valencia at Montilivi due to the injury, has been confirmed. Uruguayan Cristhian Stuani dedicated the equaliser to him with a shirt bearing his name and Michel Sanchez acknowledged after the game that the winger could have said goodbye to the season.

It is a very sensitive loss for Girona, as he has been one of the best players of the Catalan team in a discreet and irregular season collectively. He was the 7th player with the most minutes played and had 4 goals, 3 in the First Division and 1 in the Copa del Rey, and 3 assists.

In the last few days, Michel Sanchez has also lost Ivan Martin to injury, who will be out for 5 weeks with a muscle injury in his left leg. For the game after the break against Barcelona he will also be without Donny van de Beek through suspension and Oriol Romeu due to a clause that prevents a loan player from playing against his parent club.
