Ernesto Valverde has found a new backbone for his side - none other than Arthur Melo. The Brazilian midfielder, who showed his class at Wembley, was once again in charge of the midfield and impressed the Camp Nou crowd.

After the departure of Xavi, many 'culé' fans thought they would not see a player with similar characteristics for a long time.

However, everything seems to indicate that his successor is already here. At just 22 years of age, Arthur has emerged as the dictator of Barcelona's midfield. The pressure is not affecting him and you can see that in every match.

His first starring role came at Wembley, after a complete performance from start to finish. He showed glimpses of Xavi, with 91% pass completion and three interceptions...

Against Valencia, he started again and was impressive once more, although his team drew. After the international break, he returned to help Barca solve their problems against Sevilla.

Through good performances, Arthur has won the confidence of Valverde and the affection of the Camp Nou. Against Inter, the crowd were in uproar against the 'Txingurri' as he took off the former Gremio midfielder for Arturo Vidal.

The Barcelona style of play has a new idol to entrust itself to and whom it sees as the heir to Xavi's throne. Arthur must know, however, that the 'Blaugrana' fans are very demanding and that he cannot afford to fail.
