Azpilicueta and Mourino pass medical with Atletico
Atletico Madrid are close to making both Cesar Azpilicueta and Santiago Mourino official. Both passed their medical examinations on Thursday.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea player for the last 11 seasons, and Santiago Mourino, from Racing Montevideo, passed on Thursday their medical examinations prior to the signing of their contracts with Atletico Madrid and will join Diego Simeone's pre-season training sessions on Friday.
Azpilicueta, as revealed by an image of 'Jugones' of 'La Sexta' in which he is seen arriving and entering the Civitas Metropolitano, went after the tests to the Madrid side's stadium to sign his contract, as did Mourino, so that soon they will be to all intents and purposes new Atletico Madrid players.
They are the team's third and fourth signings for the new season, along with two other defenders: centre-back Caglar Soyuncu, released from Leicester City on a four-year contract, and left-back Javi Galan, signed from Celta and under contract until 30th June 2026.
In this way, Simeone will have for the start of the pre-season the four players he wanted for the 2023-24 season.
