Augsburg faced Athletic Bilbao in their only Europa League up to now and they saw first hand what Aduriz was capable of. The striker scored four goals against them and the German outfit wrote a goodbye message to him.

Aduriz shared on a letter on social media with which he wanted to say goodbye to football and fans before he went to San Mames. Aduriz's hip has given him many problems and he has had to call time on his career.

The Athletic Bilbao player received tons of messages from all over the globe. One of them even came from Augsburg. The German club wrote a message to the player.

Athletic Bilbao and Augsburg met in the 2015-16 Europa League group stage and Athletic Bilbao won both games. 3-1 at home and 2-3 away with Aduriz doing the damage.

The striker scored four of the six goals the Bundesliga outfit conceded. It was Augsburg only appearance in the Europa League.

"His career is above: hats off to a great player and a great team who we played our first European game against. He even scored four times against us. Thank you Mr. Aduriz and all the best in the future!," the German side wrote in Basque on Twitter.
