'AS' reports that Atletico Madrid have received various bids for Jose Maria Gimenez and have responded that the player's price is around 60 million euros. Atletico need 40 million euros to balance their books and would be open to selling the Uruguayan.

Jose Maria Gimenez has practically spent his entire career at Atletico Madrid, but he could be spending his final few weeks there. According to 'AS', several clubs, whose names have not been revealed, have called the Wanda Metropolitano to ask about him. Atletico have responded that they would let him leave for around 60 million euros.

This figure matches his market value, which is 59.3 million euros. Furthermore, with a contract until 2025, his present and future are tied to Atleti, so it makes sense that if he has to be sold, it will be for a large sum of money. Furthermore, he is an important player for the manager, Diego Simeone.

The upper managment at the Madrid side, according to 'AS', need to raise 40 million euros to be able to make signings in the transfer window. These 40 million euros are not urgent, but are necessary if they want to strengthen the squad for the 2022/23 season, for which they have already got rid of Luis Suarez.

A potential sale of Gimenez would help Atletico's wage budget. In this sense, it wouldn't only be possible to sign new players who could cost a fee, but the club could also bring in players on a free transfer.
