Pablo Barrios is expected to miss Atletico Madrid's upcoming fixture against Real Betis after suffering a concussion during Thursday's defeat in Pamplona. The midfielder did not take part in Friday's training session and remains under the mandatory rest period outlined in concussion protocols.

Barrios was withdrawn in the 51st minute of his side's 2-0 loss to Osasuna after a heavy collision with teammate Marcos Llorente. The 20-year-old struck his head against Llorente's hip and briefly lost consciousness before recovering and walking off the pitch unaided.

Even though the required 48-hour rest period will have passed by Sunday, Atletico are not expected to risk the Spain Under-21 international for the match at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Barrios also sat out Saturday's training session and remains unlikely to feature against the Andalusian side.

The club confirmed that the player underwent medical tests on Thursday night, which fortunately ruled out any serious injury. The rest of the squad trained as normal on Friday morning, including Cesar Azpilicueta, who had picked up a knock late on at El Sadar.
