Atletico to try for revenge vs City in South Korea

Atletico Madrid confirmed on Thursday that they'll be stopping in South Korea for next season's pre-season, where they'll be going up against Erling Haaland's Manchester City in July, although the date is yet to be confirmed. The friendly game will be part of the 2023 'Coupang Play Series', according to the announcement on the official site.

Even though the 2022-23 season has yet to finishAtletico are already planning their pre-season. The Madrid side will be off to South Korea to play against Manchester City there.

It's the third game that's been announced by the Madrid side in their summer swing in order to best prepare for the 2023-24 season, together with those in Mexico and the United States against Real Sociedad and Sevilla respectively.

Atletico Madrid and Manchester City went up against each other in the Champions League last season at the the quarter final stage, when the English side won the first leg 1-0 and drew 0-0 in Spain, in turn throwing up a tense and cotroversial end to the tie.

Atletico's pre-season doesn't yet have a an exact start date, as the club explained. We'll have to keep an eye on the club's wesbsite to know more about the calendar and more potential friendlies.
