Gasperini's men were in fine form when the coronavirus pandemic struck. Almost 100 days later, it was as if they had not been away. They were 3-0 up in the first half against Sassuolo and it could have been worse had 'Papu' Gomez's goal not been disallowed,

If anyone was uncertain whether Atalanta would continue to be a force to be reckoned with after the COVID-19 pandemic, they were no longer unsure after 35 minutes.

In the first 37 minutes, Atalanta had scored four times, three legal goals and one was taken away by the VAR

Sassuolo, who were in 12th, were not expecting their opponents to hit them so hard. After 16 minutes, Atalanta had already scored. Djimsiti made it 1-0 from a corner.

'Papu' Gomez had scored the second just three minutes later, but the VAR spotted a handball and the goal was disallowed.

Atalanta did not take their foot off their gas and went for more goals. Duvan Zapata made it 2-0 in the 31st minute from inside the six yard box.

The third came from a Sassuolo player when Bourabia turned the ball into his own net. There seems to be no stopping this Atalanta side.
