"As far as I know there is no Saul-Griezmann swap deal"

The swap between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, with Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez as the stars, is further away from happening than ever. Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid side, was blunt on the matter.

"In all negotiations there is always a strategy. I don't know if there are any deals because of the strategy that is being carried out. We always start from something that is taken as a done deal and it seems that ones interested don't know anything. As far as I know, there are no negotiations. I imagine that there have been none with Gil Marin either because he would have told me about it", assured the president of Atletico Madrid to several journalists.

Cerezo contradicted himself with the words he said days ago about his former star striker. And he assured that Griezmann would not be well received by some of the fans.

"Griezmann is a Barcelona player at the moment. It was a misinterpretation for me to say that his arrival at Atletico Madrid would not go down well," he said.

He added, moreover, that he never meant to say it, but quite the opposite. "Firstly, because we don't know if Griezmann is going to leave Barcelona or not. He is a Barça player, I can't tell you what millions of Atletico fans are going to think," he added.

Cerezo affirmed that "the statement was not that". "It was at a very complicated moment, I was leaving because I was in a rush for another event. It must have been misunderstood or I misunderstood the question," he said.

Griezmann's future is one of the big doubts of this summer. Barcelona need to free up salary mass to undertake the renewal of Leo Messi and the Frenchman is one of the chosen ones.
