Barcelona are still trying to do the maths. They need to release several players to be able to sign Leo Messi, who finished his contract with Barca on 30th June and, since then, has been a free agent, waiting for the club to make a move. Antoine Griezmann is on the exit ramp. His departure is a priority due to his high salary. Barca need to free up wage bill and they would like to start with the Frenchman.
Barca, in their search for a home for the striker, have already spoken to Atletico and City. But they would not be the only ones: according to 'Daily Star', they have also done the same with Tottenham. According to the British newspaper, Barca are literally "desperate" to sell Griezmann. That is why they would have sounded out Tottenham. The Spurs have asked Barcelona, according to the 'Daily Star', to keep them informed about the situation. They are not planning to do anything crazy for Griezmann.
Tottenham believe that they cannot afford Griezmann's high salary. They also believe that the striker would prefer to return to Atletico Madrid. Right now, according to the 'Daily Star', the priority for Spurs is to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Gollini. Tottenham will follow Griezmann's transfer in case, at some point, the numbers fit and they can go for the Frenchman, but at the moment, he is not in their plans.
Antoine Griezmann, meanwhile, is not thinking of leaving Barcelona at the drop of a hat. According to sources around him to 'L'Équipe', "he won't accept conditions just because of the club's bad economic situation".
