Arthur gave up his cut to agree Barca deal
Brazilian midfielder Arthur's determination to force through a move and willingness to make personal sacrifices were key to Barcelona agreeing an option to buy for the youngster.
The playmaker was desperate to have the chance to become a Barcelona player, whatever the price and as such he opted to forgo his cut of the transfer in order that it be paid to Celso Rigo, a businessman whose investment fund works with Arthur's currnet employers Gremio.
It isn't pocket change that the 21-year-old has passed up on either, with his cut potentially worth €6m.
Of the €30m up-front fee for the deal, 80% of it will be paid directly to the Brazilian club.
Talks had come to something of a standstill before Arthur's sacrifice helped move things along to the point that the deal was officially announced.
In a world where every player seemingly always has an eye on their next payday, it is nice to see someone put football over money.
As of July 1st 2018 Barca will be able to purchase Arthur for the set fee.
