The Gunners aren't prepared to meet Napoli's asking price for their striker, but they are considering using Giroud as a part-exchange deal.

Arsenal are prepared to offer Olivier Giroud to Napoli in an attempt to lure Gonzalo Higuain to the Emirates this summer, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Arsene Wenger is in desperate need of a striker, and he believes the Argentina international, who scored 36 Serie A goals last season, would be a great addition to his team.

However, the Gunners are not prepared to meet the 28-year-old's collosal €94 million release clause, and are considering offering their 'inconsistent' striker to lower the price.

After a fairly disappointing season, the France international had an impressive tournament for the hosts at Euro 2016, finding the net three times.

Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri was in the Stade de France to watch Giroud in the Euro 2016 final, and could well be tempted by the north Londoner's proposal.
