Ronald Araujo wants to be available to help Barcelona in their next La Liga encounter against Girona despite suffering a jaw injury. As a result, the 24-year-old is training with a protective mask.

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo trained on Thursday wearing a protective mask after suffering a jaw injury in their last La Liga meeting against Atletico Madrid.

The Catalan side returned to training after enjoying two days off and Araujo trained with his teammates but wearing a mask reminiscent of the one that Carles Puyol once wore due to a similar injury.

The Uruguayan centre-back wants to be available for coach Xavi Hernandez in the next La Liga match against Girona at the Lluis Company stadium. Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen did not take part in Thursday's training session with the club's permission.

Furthermore, the Spanish manager has decided to call up two academy players - Cuellar and Cubarsi - for Thursday's training session. Both could be called up for the big showdown against Girona if Xavi feels that way.
