The Mexican international Nestor Araujo thinks La Liga referee should think more about "intention" when they apply the new Achilles law where any foul from behind on the Achilles is punished with a red card. He also said no-one in Mexico is talking about this rule.

"The refs explained to us that fouls from behind on the ankle were going to have consequences. Jorge's (Saenz) challenge is difficult to explain. He is focussed on the ball, he wants to press Soldado and doesn't want to catch him. Afterwards there is Santi Mina's in the second half in which he jumps and his boot almost comes off. They should make decisions based more on the player's intent," the Celta Vigo central defendert said.

The defender pointed out that in Mexico "this topic has neither been talked about nor spoken about and admitted that the defenders are starting to play cautiously because "they're giving cards for next to nothing."

"We have to get used to the new rule. It's difficult, but we have decided to play football and concentrate on what we can control. We will try not to lose it in those moments you feel annoyed because something has been given against you," he declared.

Araujo, who is in his second season at Balaidos, highlighted that Celta have been reinforced "in spectacular fashion" and did not hide his concern at having lost to Real Madrid and Granada at home.

When asked about the criticism he received in Mexico for his performance for his national team against Argentina, he replied: "People have the right to give their opinion, you have to respect what they think. It was not a good match and there were very bad errors on my part, but mistakes make a footballer and a person better. I'm sure they are going to help me."
