Sergio Aguero will not take action against the fan accused of spitting at him after Manchester City's shock FA Cup defeat at Wigan on Monday.

The incident topped off a fiery encounter between the two teams as the Argentine striker lashed out at an opposition supporter after he had supposedly spat at the City player.

However, Aguero, who won't be charged by the Football Association for his ill-discipline, has decided to take the high road and not press charges, leaving the matter to be sorted out by Wigan.

It could be a sensible decision, with the Manchester club fighting on three silverware fronts following their shock elimination from the FA Cup, one of which will be on Sunday as they battle it out with Arsenal for the League Cup.

Aguero will be a key part of Pep Guardiola's plans as City arguably having the edge over their opposition, who will have three days less rest than them after negotiating their Europa League second leg against Ostersunds FK on Thursday.
