Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2009 and since then no player has been able to match his impressive achievement in the Premier League.

His performances in 2007/08 propelled Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United to glory both in the Premier League and the Champions League. As well as finishing as the Premier League leading goalscorer with 31, Ronaldo also contributed eight goals in Europe's elite club competition and three in the FA Cup.

A decade later and still no player at an English club has managed to surpass the 40-goal mark in all competitions in one season. However, we now find ourselves with three players who could potentially exceed the magic mark.

Harry Kane looks most likely to do so, having already banged in 35 this season: 24 in the Premier League, four in the FA Cup and seven in the Champions League. The England international has every chance with Spurs still fighting on all three fronts.

Mohamed Salah's debut season at Anfield has not gone unnoticed, the Egyptian scoring 24 goals in the league, one in the FA Cup and seven in Europe. His pace and flair in Liverpool's free-flowing attack could see him score many more this term.

One of the most reliable goalscorers in England since his arrival at the Etihad, Sergio Aguero has 30 goals for the season so far: 21 in the Premier League, two in the FA Cup, three in City's successful EFL Cup run and four in the Champions League. Much like the other two strikers, you wouldn't bet against the Argentine matching, or even exceeding, Ronaldo's impressive feat from 10 years ago.
