Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has revealed that he is considering quitting the club when his contract ends in 2019.

The Argentine, who recently became City’s all-time record goalscorer after surpassing Eric Brook’s tally of 178 goals, has enjoyed a prolific six years in English football since joining the club from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Now, the 29-year-old has admitted that he has always intended to rejoin former club Independiente in his homeland when his contract at the Etihad stadium comes to an end, though he did not rule out a possible extension to his stay in the Premier League.

"It came out that Milan and Real Madrid wanted me and - I don't know where I read it - but they said, 'They just spoiled Independiente's dream," he explained.

"But the idea was always to go back to Independiente when my contract with City runs out in 2019.

"I have an option to extend one more year with City where it's the priority but it's always an option.

"The idea is to go back. Now, I'm doing very well and hopefully we can win the cup [title], but it's not easy."

Aguero has been in fine form so far this season, having scored 10 goals in 12 games in all competitions and leading the Premier League goalscoring charts alongside Harry Kane with eight.
