Celta Vigo announced on Friday that they had reached an agreement in principle with Rafa Benitez.

Carlos Carvalhal's replacement at the helm of Celta Vigo has been found. It is Rafa Benitez. An agreement in principle has been reached between the two parties, according to a press release from the Galician club.

Rafa Benitez has agreed a one-year contract with Celta Vigo, plus a two-year option.

The 63-year-old is making his return to Spain seven years after his spell at Real Madrid. He had been without a team since leaving Everton in January 2022.

Rafa Benitez will thus manage the 14th team in his coaching career after having been at Real Madrid's reserve team, Real Valladolid, Osasuna, Tenerife, Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea, Napoli, Madrid as previously mentioned, Newcastle, Dalian Pro and Everton.
